From the Louvre to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and many other hallowed venues, Dale Chihuly’s works are featured in museum collections around the world. His permanent collection, though, can only be found in downtown St. Petersburg.
The Chihuly Collection, which is presented by the Morean Arts Center, offers visitors a stunning visual experience. There is also the nearby glass studio and hot shop at Morean Arts Center where guests can buy pieces of art and make their own glass creation.
A 20-foot vertical swath of cerise-colored rocks marks the entrance of the Chihuly Collection, which is located at 400 Beach Drive NE. Inside, the collection includes pieces that were commissioned specifically for the museum such as “Ruby Red Icicle Chandelier.”
A docent-led tour (which is available Monday through Friday) is offered, and guests can also explore the exhibit at their own pace. Floating docents are available to answer questions on weekends.
Tickets can be purchased separately for the Chihuly Collection and the Glass Studio & Hot Shop, but a special combination ticket called the St. Petersburg Arts Experience pairs admission to both with admission to the nearby Morean Arts Center for Clay, which is a working pottery studio nestled in a historic train station.
